We were contacted by a great company in Wales called Electric Classic Cars who were thinking about making a series documenting the conversion of various iconic classic cars. The idea was to convert a Classic Fiat 500 from a noisy tuned sports petrol engine to electric motors and batteries from a Tesla. The presenter of the program Petrol Pedro visited us with the petrol engine with a view to finding a buyer which we did and spent a day filming in our shop and warehouse and eventually taking some spares away with him. We supplied lots of upgraded brake, suspension, steering, drive shaft parts to be able to handle the extra power from the motors and of course have the ability to stop safely. It was great to be involved, Richard, Pedro and all the guys involvved in the program were a pleasure to be involved with and we greatly enjoyed the experience, and have since gone on to be involved in lots more electric conversions as the idea takes off.

What an appalling thing to do to a classic car: cut out its heart. Why would you do this?
What a great collaboration, well done! Fuel shift is already with us and this doesn’t ruin the little 500 at all. It fits with Fiat’s original design ethos and saves another 500 for a long, practical life. When the time comes, my 500, my Spitfire and the cars I really want to keep will have to follow the EV conversion route. Good to learn early ????????
